Summer House on the Lake has that bougie aesthetic going on — beautiful lakeside setting, Instagram-worthy interiors, and a vibe that says “we know we look good.” But does the food match the glamour? We stopped in to find out.

Deviled Eggs A personal weakness and these did not disappoint. Rich flavor, a hint of onion, and a perfectly made creamy yolk filling that was well seasoned throughout. Simple done right — we very much enjoyed these.

Cheesy Dream Puffs Think buttery choux pastry with crispy cheese on top and a cheesy pull running through the middle. They come with a dipping sauce and the whole experience of ripping them open and dipping was genuinely fun and tasty. A great share plate.

The burger itself was good — soft fresh bun, crisp lettuce, fresh tomatoes. But the patty was let down by a serious lack of seasoning. A pinch of salt and pepper would have elevated this from good to great. Such a simple fix for what could be a standout burger.

The truffle fries were unfortunately too salty — the truffle flavor completely overpowered everything else and we couldn’t taste much beyond the salt.

The winner of the mains. Well seasoned with a lovely seasoned salt that gave it great flavor throughout. And in a surprise twist — the plain regular fries actually outperformed the truffle fries. Sometimes simple is better.

ItemRatingNotes
Deviled Eggs⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Rich, creamy, perfectly seasoned
Cheesy Dream Puffs⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Fun, buttery, great dipping sauce
Cheese Burger⭐⭐⭐☆☆Needs seasoning — wasted potential
Truffle Fries⭐⭐☆☆☆Way too salty — couldn’t taste the truffle
Chicken Picnic Basket⭐⭐⭐⭐☆Well seasoned and satisfying
Regular Fries⭐⭐⭐⭐☆Surprisingly better than the truffle fries!

Summer House on the Lake is a beautiful spot and the starters genuinely impressed us. But the mains felt like they were coasting on the ambiance — a burger that needs seasoning at this price point is a miss. The chicken was the right call and the starters alone might be worth a visit for a light bite by the lake.

Would we go back? Maybe for drinks and starters. For a full meal we’d want to see the kitchen step it up.

📍 Location: Disney Springs
