Don’t let the mall fool you. This place is the real deal. ๐
We were out and about, feeling a little peckish, and decided burgers were the answer as they so often are. Pulling up the local area we had the usual suspects staring back at us, but then we spotted something different. A small local place with great reviews tucked away in Montgomery Mall. We decided to give it a shot and we are very glad we did.
Pro tip: There’s a food court entrance on the JC Penney side that takes you straight to them. Why do we mention this? Because the mall itself is… rough. Look, corporate America’s mishandling of the American mall is a whole other conversation for another day. But do NOT let that put you off Naf’s absolutely deserves your business and is worth every step through that sad mall. ๐
The Value ๐ฐ
Before we even get into the food two burgers and fries and we didn’t even break $20. With a generous tip. In this economy. That alone deserves a round of applause. ๐
The Fries ๐ โ โ โ โ โ 5/5
Beer battered fries. BEER BATTERED FRIES. Cooked perfectly golden, crispy, and crunchy on the outside with that perfectly soft middle. Generous serving too, they didn’t hold back. We were both immediately very happy. These fries are a big yes from us and honestly one of the best things about the whole experience. Don’t skip them. Don’t even think about skipping them.
The Burger ๐ โ โ โ โ โ
A perfectly sized cheeseburger soft bun with a decent flavour, a rough looking hand formed patty (not some preformed frozen garbage, thank you very much), American cheese, a nice big pickle, and a sauce that absolutely made the whole thing. Tangy, a little spicy, and so good we were both talking about it after. The burger was cooked well and the whole package just worked. We couldn’t even finish our servings the portions are genuinely solid for the price.

Naf’s Burgers is a genuine hidden gem and exactly the kind of local spot we love to find and shout about. Great burgers, incredible fries, unbeatable value, and friendly service. Yes the mall is sad. Yes you should go anyway. Ignore the surroundings, find the food court entrance on the JC Penney side, and go get yourself a burger and those fries.
For our Aussie friends and expats this is the kind of no frills, quality burger spot that reminds you of a good local back home. No pretension, just good food at a fair price. ๐ฆ๐
