An cafe style with some aussie cafe’ vibes

Just had brunch at Turning Point in Collegeville, and this place gave us a full-on Australian cafรฉ feel โ crisp, clean, great coffee, and food that just reminded us of home. If you’re feeling a little homesick or just miss that casual Aussie cafรฉ vibe, Turning Point is absolutely worth a visit.
Now let’s get into why we’re really here โ the food and the drinks.
Fiona ordered the new Caprese sandwich with a side of chips and salsa, and I went with the Eggs Benedict, also with chips and salsa on the side. For drinks, Fiona tried the new Brunette and I went straight for a French press from their very well-stocked coffee menu. Seriously good coffee here, but more on that in a moment.
The Eggs Benedict
I love Eggs Benedict. I’ve had it many times, in many places, across quite a few different variations of this classic dish โ lightly toasted English muffin, Canadian bacon, a poached egg smothered in hollandaise sauce. When done right, it’s truly amazing, and Turning Point did not disappoint.
There’s a small spin on the classic here โ a slice of fresh tomato tucked between the English muffin and the ham โ and it’s a welcome one. The muffin was toasted perfectly; not so hard you struggle to cut through it, just lightly golden. The Canadian bacon was perfect โ actually one of the best I’ve had, just a little crispy and absolutely delicious. The eggs were perfectly runny, so when you cut into them the yolk pours out and mingles with everything like liquid gold. And the hollandaise? Smooth, rich, and tangy โ another home run. Put it all together and this is easily one of my top Eggs Benedicts ever. Big shout out โ this is a must try.
The Chips & Salsa
I tackled these first because I knew the salsa was house-made and I wanted to experience it pure โ and oh boy, was it good. Fresh, tangy, not too spicy, with cilantro and fresh jalapeรฑos. Seriously, don’t skip these.
The Pancakes
These were interesting. I love soft, slightly doughy pancakes, and these had a bit of a crispy crust to them โ not my favourite texture. Fiona, on the other hand, loved them. We both agreed the butter and overall flavour were on point; it was purely a texture thing for me. If you’re a crispy pancake person, give them a try. If you’re like me and want soft and pillowy, you might want to give them a miss โ though the real maple syrup option is fantastic, and honestly, why wouldn’t you want real maple syrup?
The Caprese Sandwich
This was a big winner. Served on a lightly toasted ciabatta roll with a generous spread of pesto, fresh tomato slices, spinach, mozzarella, and โ to our absolute delight โ balsamic vinaigrette. That balsamic elevated an already great sandwich into something really special. I was lucky enough to steal a bite and it was just perfect. Serious must try.
The Drinks
The Brunette โ a new menu item, this is a cold brew coffee with a dark chocolate drizzle. Smooth and tasty with a nice chocolate flavour and a lighter coffee taste. If you’re a mocha fan like Fiona, you’ll love this.
The French Press Coffee โ I chose the Costa Rica bean: dark but not too dark. They have everything from blonde roasts right through to the Jersey Devil (Seattle-style, essentially charred โ and proud of it), so there’s genuinely something for everyone. The Costa Rica had a rich, bold flavour and french pressed perfectly it was fantastic. They even sent me off with a travel cup so I could keep enjoying it on the way out. Coffee lovers, this is your place. It’s my kryptonite โ my dark, warm, delicious drug of choice โ and if you’re like me, you’ll want to work your way through every bean on that menu.
The Vibe
Turning Point has a strong Australian cafรฉ feel โ crisp, clean, and welcoming. The staff were polite and friendly, the venue was spotless, and there are plenty of options on the menu for everyone. For Australian expats especially, this place hits different. It feels like a little slice of home.
