We liked it so much we had to go back. No apologies. ๐
If our first visit didn’t make it clear enough we are big fans of Sweet Zen Bakery. So much so that we went back for round two, this time specifically for the sourdough we couldn’t carry out the first visit. And of course we may have picked up a few extra treats along the way. ๐
The Sourdough ๐ โ โ โ โ โ
Really good sourdough the crust has a satisfying crunch, chewy in all the right ways, and beautifully soft on the inside. We paired it with some smoked chicken and it made absolutely amazing sandwiches. If you’re a bread person this is a must grab on your visit.
The Pecan Slice ๐ฏ โ โ โ โ โ 5/5
30 years of baking between us and Sweet Zen just keeps blowing us away. This pecan slice was everything we love about a pecan pie rich, indulgent filling but with a dense and delicious base and a top like a cobbler. It is absolutely incredible.
Aussie pro tip: Pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute and add some cream. Pure heaven. And once again perfectly balanced, not too sweet. Sweet Zen just gets it. Another absolute must try. ๐
The Snickerdoodle Cookie ๐ช โ โ โ โ โ 5/5
For the non-Americans a snickerdoodle is a classic cinnamon sugar cookie and it is Roy’s personal favourite. The Sweet Zen version? Perfect. Thick, not over baked, buttery with a beautiful cinnamon flavour and a texture that is spot on. Most places bake these until they’re dry and crumbly Sweet Zen nailed the balance perfectly.

The Round 2 Verdict
They also have a selection of gluten free items which is a great touch and something worth knowing if you have dietary requirements. The staff are always friendly, the coffee is good, and the food is just consistently fantastic visit after visit.
Sweet Zen Bakery we’ll be back for round three and we are not even slightly sorry about it.
